The Glass Menagerie is a delicate and beautifully written play by Tennessee Williams, and recognised as a reflection of his early life.  Tom Wingate, a young writer, struggles to cast off the suffocating burden of supporting his mother Amanda and reclusive sister Laura during the late 1930’s.  With the best intentions, Tom introduces Laura to a “gentleman caller”, but all goes badly awry.

Since premiering in 1944, the play has enjoyed numerous successful productions on the professional stage, on radio , on TV and on film.  The Glass Menagerie is truly a seminal classic of enduring appeal.  This production by the Heidelberg Theatre Company is directed by Karen Wakeham.
